Scholarships

PURPOSE

The Sooner Swim Club Scholarship Program is designed to provide financial assistance to athletes and families who demonstrate financial need, ensuring equitable access to participation in club programs. 


ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To qualify for a scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be a current or prospective member in good standing with Sooner Swim Club
  • Demonstrate financial need by qualifying for school-based Free or Reduced Lunch Program
  • Provide official documentation verifying Free/Reduced Lunch status annually
  • Submit a completed Scholarship Application Form annually 

Eligibility must be reverified each year by September 30.


SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

Approved scholarships provide a 50% reduction in monthly practice fees. Scholarships only apply to monthly practice fees and do not cover meet fees, equipment, apparel, travel expenses, and other club costs.


VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENT

Families receiving scholarship assistance are required to: 

  • Complete 50% more volunteer hours than the standard family requirement 
  • Fulfill all volunteer obligations within the designated year
  • Make reasonable efforts to to remain in good standing with volunteer commitments by consistently volunteering throughout the designated year

Failure to meet volunteer requirements may result in:

  • Revocation of scholarship benefits
  • Ineligibility for future scholarship consideration


APPLICATION PROCESS 

Applicants must complete the Scholarship Application Form and submit proof of Free/Reduced Lunch eligibility. Incomplete applications will not be considered. All scholarships are subject to approval by the Board of Directors. Awards are granted based on verified eligibility, available scholarship budget, and number of applicants. The Board reserves the right to limit the number of scholarships awarded and adjust the award amount based on financial capacity. Scholarships are valid for one membership year. Recipients must reapply annually and provide updated documentation.


CONFIDENTIALITY

All financial and personal information submitted will be kept confidential and reviewed only by board members.
